Chemical formula CaF2. Colorless crystalline or white powder; Insoluble in water, slightly soluble in inorganic acids; Hydrofluoric acid is formed with hot concentrated sulfuric acid. Calcium fluoride was prepared by calcium carbonate acting with hydrofluoric acid or repeated treatment with concentrated hydrochloric acid or hydrofluoric acid. Calcium fluoride mineral in nature is fluorite or fluorite, usually in gray, yellow, green, purple and other colors, sometimes colorless, transparent, glassy luster, brittleness, significant fluorescence phenomenon. Very spring fluoride is used to make special lenses. Fluorite is mainly used as a flux for smelting metal. Metallurgical industry
Fluorite is can reduce the melting point of refractory material, promote the slag flow, make the slag and metal fine separation, desulphurization and dephosphorization during the process of smelting, reinforced metal can be calcined and tensile strength etc. Therefore, as a melting agent, it is widely used in steel smelting, ferroalloy production, ferrochemical process and non-ferrous metal smelting.
